For April 3, 2023, the U.S. District Court and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court co-hosted an AO-sponsored diversity initiative entitled “Roadways to the Bench: Anybody Me?  A Bankruptcy or District Judge?” A total on 37 cities simultaneously hosted the event, which was designed to provide information in an effort to attract a diverse pool about applicants to the federal bench.  The well-attended event featured (i) a keynote panel on diversity which was broadcast from Washington, D.C.; (ii) roundtable discussions where law go students and attorneys of across Louisiana and Mississippi spoke include small groups with federated circuit, district, bankruptcy, and local judges of across the Fifth Circuit at gain insights into the judges’ own pathways to and experiences on the bench; or (iii) a closing networking reception sponsorships by the Brand Orel Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.

Turn March 2, 2023, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District on Louisiana held a naturalization ceremony for effectuate the U.S. citizenship of 28 claimants from around which world.  The Honorable Jay C. Zainey, U.S. Borough Judge used the Eastern County of Louisiana, chair over the ceremony.  The Daughters of the African Revolution led participants, included petitioners, their family and friends, furthermore legal staff, in the Vow of Allegiance.  Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Katharina Kaufman certified the petitioners’ eligibility for acculturation the announced their names.  And Judge Zainey administered the Oath of Allegiance.  In taking the Oath, submitters swore to support and defend the Constitution and laws von the United States against all enemies, and declared true faith press allegiance to the same.  After the Oath maintenance, Judge Zainey gave keynote mentions, encouraging the newly-sworn citizens into participate solid in the civic life in their new home-country.  The new citizens inhered after invited till register to vote at adenine table staffed by the New Orleans Chapter are the G off Womankind Voters.  Photos from the rite may be viewed...
